Meet The Nedlands Chiropractic Wellness Team

Dr. Gerry Rosanove
My first introduction to Chiropractic was when I was thirteen. My mother had acute lower back pain and scoliosis being a celloist. She was seeing a chiropractor and took me along. This started me on a natural healing journey which I’m still on.
That same year I was introduced to yoga and meditation which resulted in four visits to Indian yoga centres and pilgrimage sites. I taught massage and yoga in my twenties before deciding I wanted to reach a greater cross section of the community and embarked on my chiropractic training in Sydney, graduating in 1988. I’ve been practicing in Queensland ever since.
Chiropractic is not just about back and neck care. It is an all encompassing healing art that uses the premise that the body has its own ability to heal itself as long as there is no interference. I am committed to offering a self help approach focusing on the underlying cause.
The future of health care is Wellness. This school of thought encourages people to empower themselves by consciously choosing healthy lifestyle choices. Dr James Chestnut is a talented and inspiring Chiropractor who is working on the forefront of this movement. He has created the ‘eat-well, move-well, think-well’ system which is vital for good health and Wellness. I have joined the LWC team to help implement these new systems and see LWC on the leading edge of Wellness care in Australia.
I believe in ‘walking the walk and talking the talk’ and to this end, I eat a sugarless, salt free and dairy free diet. I have done regular yoga and gym since I was a teenager. I am a great believer that your attitude is your altitude. I see myself as much as a Coach as a Chiropractor in assisting people achieve their desired goal and achieve optimum health and well-being. It’s wonderful to work in a multi-doctor team and receiving regular weekly chiropractic care.
Outside of practice I do Latin dancing, rock climbing, bushwalking, yoga and sailing. I’m enjoying the diversity and difference of Perth compared to the East Coast.
Thank you for visiting the site, don’t delay, let myself and the LWC team help you achieve greater wellness in all areas of your life. Live life to the max. Give our office a call or arrange a time to explore your options. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Dr. Robert Leigh
My first impression of chiropractic was formed seeing my dad on a chiropractors table having his spine “cracked”. Then I saw a chiropractor for an injury received from my teenage trolley pushing job days. This also involved having my spine “cracked”. Both chiropractors seemed like really nice gents and the techniques used were much gentler than they looked at first, but I wouldn’t say there was a huge career desire created from those experiences.
Having my dad choose a career as a nutritionist/ naturopath and seeing him help great numbers of people toward better health helped inspire me toward a career in natural or in those days( mid 80’s) “alternative” health modalities. It was at a year 10 careers day at my school that a chiropractic representative really grabbed my attention and I chose year 11 subjects accordingly, with a view to studying the required science subjects firstly at school and then at university to enable the pursuit of a chiropractic career.
So from Pittwater High School in Sydney's Northern Beaches I went to Sydney University and completed a Bachelor of Science majoring in anatomy and physiology, and then attended Macquarie University gaining a Masters of Chiropractic Science in 1991. To survive financially through uni I worked in 2 chiropractic clinics massaging each patient before their chiropractor adjusted them, which was great hands on experience for me, and laid the foundation for my current approach to practice of chiropractic involving deep soft tissue releases before adjustments. One of the said chiro's had a practice in Collaroy on Sydney's Northern Beaches and he went to the beach across the road each morning and practiced from 2 till 6 pm each day. The life balance available in the chiropractic profession was also attractive to me!
I then practiced in Sydney from 1991 until 1995 when I moved to Perth to help out in a church group. I have since practiced in the Chelsea Centre until the present day, enjoying my practice very much in the West and now considering myself a West Australian for life.
It is such a blessing to be able to enhance peoples health and wellbeing through chiropractic care for a living. I also strive to educate people regarding healthier life choices as knowledge really does empower us to make the choices necessary for greater health and wellbeing. We are not programmed for daily tiredness, fatigue, anxiety, anger, irritability, aching joints, depression, diabetes and then early death. Healthier choices can improve our lives, no matter where we are at.
It brings me great joy to see peoples lives change for the better. Knowing for example that Brent a father of 2 young kids in his early 40’s now doesn’t take 5 -6 Panadols each day for his headaches and neck pain. In fact he has none! Yes he feels more alive personally but just consider how his interactions with his work mates and his productivity have changed, let alone with his children and wife after work. Chiropractic care and a few healthier choices can enhance our lives remarkably!
In 1999 I married the love of my life Sharon and we currently live in Scarborough with our three boys Jadon(6), Connor(5) and Daniel(1.5) and enjoy the coastal lifestyle very much. Perths weather and the numerous great outdoor facilities and parks make it, in our opinion, the perfect place for raising a family. Having started golf at about the age of 12 and playing on and off for years, I now play once weekly on a variety of courses throughout Perth and its’ immediate surrounds. For me , not only is it a challenge, but it is also a form of escape and replenishment for the mind and the body. Walking the dew covered fairways as the golden sun rays reflect off the trees in the early morning is simply good for the soul.
Of course regular chiropractic adjustments facilitate not only a good golf game but also help my body and mind to cope with the stresses imposed by a busy lifestyle with work, family and church responsibilities all adding to the load. Having learned that, unlike my initial experience of chiros being just bone crunchers, chiropractic adjustments reduce stress hormones in the body and therefore facilitate not only increased spinal function but also greater health and longevity, we make it a priority for our whole family to have their spines checked every 2 to 3 weeks. Just like dental hygiene is a normal part of life , so is spinal hygiene as we only get one spine!
So…., who doesn’t have any stresses in their lives? We all do! Chiropractic plays an integral part in reducing the effects of stress on our bodies and minds, so don’t wait until you are “munted” and can’t walk or move your neck, book in and lets get optimal spinal hygiene happening for you and your family. Carpe Diem – “Sieze the day”, optimize your potential!

Dr. Ben Harrison
When I was younger I had aspirations of either working as an architect or working with the human body. When I discovered chiropractic I knew it was for me....... the perfect match of structure and health.
I studied chiropractic at Macquarie University in Sydney where I worked for a few years before moving to Perth at the beginning in 2005. It wasn't until 4th year during Dr. Anthony Nicholson's neurology lectures that I realized the true potential of chiropractic care. It was the information contained in these lectures that motivated me to pursue further post-graduate study in Neurology after graduation with the Carrick Institute. A personal goal of mine is to one day be a Diplomat of the American Board of Chiropractic Neurology.
In keeping with my post-graduate studies I run a very neurology based practice. That is why my assessment largely focuses on your nervous system as well as your spine. When I asses someone, tests measuring things such as balance, co-ordination of eye movements, spinal muscle tone and limb co-ordination are all performed. The results of such tests are windows into spinal function and therefore someones overall health. If you have a healthy spine you will have a healthy nervous system and if you have a healthy nervous system you are a healthy person. It is as simple as that.
Outside of my practice I have been heavily involved with the 2007 premiership winning Perth Rugby side as their team chiropractor and I have just returned from a trip to India where I worked alongside 3 other chiropractors and several chiropractic students providing chiropractic care to orphans in the province of West Bengal. When not in practice, I really enjoy mountain biking and playing the guitar.
I firmly believe chiropractic has played a huge role in the good health I enjoy today. The scientific community is beginning to realize that the results being achieved by patients under chiropractic care can no longer be ignored. I firmly believe that with a good diet, effective stress management and regular chiropractic care one can reach their true potential.
If you are experiencing, among other symptoms, any spinal or limb pain, headaches, balance disorders or altered sensation my recommendation is that you have your spine checked. Have you asked yourself what effect this problem is having on your overall health? Give our office a call, or email me using the link below and let’s arrange a time to explore your options.

Tina Lembo - Wellness Team Coordinator
I have had a neck problem for over 20 years and I lived in constant pain.
As far as I was concerned there was nothing I could do about it so pain became apart of my life.
That was until I met the team from Longevity Wellness Centre.
After a program of care the tension in my neck is gone and I started to notice other wonderful changes ie: sitting and standing for long period of time pain free, increased energy, improved sleep and the list goes on.
My passion is to help people and make a difference in their lives so working with the wonderful team at the Longevity Wellness Centre is the perfect job for me.
I also volunteer at Radio Lolli Pop at PMH Perth Children’s Hospital. I get to play games, read books and make the sick children laugh.
Hobbies and activities: I love to keep fit playing soccer, tennis, squash and ten pin bowling. Bike riding, fishing, walking, reading and gardening are some of the activities I enjoy.

Megan Utber - Chiropractic Assistant
Have you ever heard people say to you "Oh, don't see a chiropractor, they'll crack your back and do more damage"? I have, and for many years I put off going to see a chiropractor because of this statement. And yes, you guessed it, for many years I suffered, with severe back and neck pain, which has caused many migraines.
Prior to moving from Melbourne to Perth (Oct 2007), I had decided to take the plunge and have a chiropractor (a close friend) make some spinal adjustments. Now, I hope that everyone is going to have a great result first time like I did, because WOW, from the first adjustment I could notice the change and how it gave me more movement in my neck and back. I am now continuing the adjustments and with exercises my back is becoming stronger day by day.
I joined the Longevity Wellness Centre (LWC) team in November 2007 as a Chiropractor's Assistant. I have 13 years office administration and customer service experience, and very much look forward to growing with LWC and learning more from the wealth of knowledge that the doctors and fellow employees will provide me with.

Stella Yuen - Chiropractic Assistant
Hi! I’m Stella. I’m an Occupational Therapy student at Curtin University and I enjoy playing sports (tennis, jogging, bowling, cycling, golf and rock climbing), cooking and reading novels. My first chiropractic care was here at Longevity Wellness Centre. I had my first adjustment on my first day at work. I was totally amazed and impressed. I used to have severe neck and back problems. This significantly influenced multiple areas of my life including my leisure activities (sports & reading novels), occupation (study & work) and quality of sleep.
Ever since my first adjustment, I have been receiving regular deep tissue release and spinal care. I have been feeling much better since then! I no longer experience the throbbing neck pain throughout the day. I can also stand and sit longer hours without the experience of stiffness and pain in my lower and upper back. I have certainly found the right place to work at!
For those of you who had never experienced chiropractic care, I strongly recommend you to have a try. To see and determine for yourself, what a difference it can make in your life.

Jaya Henderson - Chiropractic Assistant
I had my first chiropractic adjustment when I was two weeks old which cured my colic and restless sleeping much to my mum’s delight. I have been having regular chiropractic adjustments ever since and still remember being a nosey five year old popping behind the front desk to help/annoy the chiropractic assistants. So once I finished year 12 at the end of 2000, I decided I had to look for a part-time job and was thrilled to be offered a job as a Chiropractic Assistant.
While working at the Chelsea Centre I have completed a Bachelor of Communications with a double major in Public Relations and Advertising and I am now studying Psychology at the University of Western Australia while continuing to work as an Actor and Chiropractic Assistant, all three keeping me very busy!
I have been very lucky to have learnt and understood the health benefits of Chiropractic care and greatly enjoy teaching others how they too can receive optimum health. My regular adjustments allow my body to function to the best of its ability, getting me through numerous musical theatre performances and many years of exams. I know it will help me live a long, happy and healthy life.
Looking forward to helping you realise your human potential.
Jaya
